Once you’ve decided that Showit is the one for your website, it’s time for the next big decision: finding your designer!
And if you’ve started looking into Showit website design, you’ll know there are a lot of designers out there. So how do you know who’s actually right for you…? What should you look for in a Showit website designer…?
If I were hiring one myself, these are the key things I’d be looking out for…

1. Are they a Showit Design Partner?
If they’re a Showit Design Partner, chances are they know their way around the Showit platform!
Showit doesn’t just hand out that badge to anyone. Design Partners have to complete training and pass a course, and they’re expected to follow Showit’s design standards. Showit also checks in with their clients about their experience, so there’s a little more accountability there too.
For me, this would be one of the first things I’d look for. I’d want to know that the person building my website actually knows how to use the platform properly.
2. Do I love their design style?
Please, please hire a designer whose work you love. If they don’t have the style you’re looking for in their portfolio, they probably aren’t the Showit website designer for you. And that’s okay! Every designer has their own style, and you’ll get the best result when you choose someone who genuinely enjoys creating the kind of websites you’re after. You want to play to their strengths, rather than asking them to create something completely outside their usual style and skillset.
This can actually be a great way to find a designer in the first place. Head over to Pinterest and search for “Showit website design” – you’ll find loads of gorgeous sites and can see who designed them. Save the ones that make you stop scrolling, then go and check out that designer’s portfolio. You might just find your perfect match!

3. Have they worked with businesses like mine?
As well as loving their design style, I’d have a little nosey at who they actually design for. Have they worked with other businesses like yours? If you’re a florist, for example, I’d probably look for a Showit website designer who has experience working with creative, service-based businesses or other wedding professionals.
That doesn’t mean they need to specialise exclusively in your exact niche. Lots of designers (me included!) work with a whole mix of industries. The important thing is that they understand your type of business, your audience and what you’re trying to achieve.
I’d also pay attention to their website copy. Do you read it and think, “Yep, this person gets me”? If you feel like they’re talking directly to you and your business, that’s a pretty good sign you’ve found someone who understands your world.
4. Does their process work for me?
This is a really important one to check before hiring your designer. What does their process look like? How long does it take? And how involved will you need to be?
If you have a specific launch date in mind and want to be live in less than a month, you probably don’t want a Showit website designer whose process takes three months. Maybe you love working intensively and would prefer a website in a week service, or perhaps you’re super busy and would rather have more time to mull things over.
As well as the timeline, check things like payment terms, how many revisions are included and what support you’ll get after launch. You want to make sure their way of working works for you too!
5. What are other people saying?
I always read the reviews before hiring someone, whether I’m buying something, booking a service or deciding where to eat!
When you’re investing thousands in your website, it’s definitely worth seeing what previous clients thought of their experience. Did they feel looked after? Was the process easy? Did the designer come up with unique ideas they hadn’t thought of?
And don’t just skim the five-star rating. Have a little read of the actual reviews – they can tell you so much about what it’s really like to work with someone (You might even find a few that put you off altogether!).

Hopefully you’ve found these points helpful. There are so many Showit website designers out there, so choosing one can feel a little overwhelming. And hey…if you’ve had a nosey at my portfolio, checked out the lovely things my clients have said and think I might be a good fit for your business, I’d love to add myself to your Showit website designer shortlist!
