So, you’ve found me, had a look around, and decided I might just be the Showit website designer for you — exciting! You’ve had a look around, had a peek at my work, and now you’re wondering what it’s actually like to work together.
My services page walks you through my full custom brand and website design process, but here I want to focus on the website design side of things, so you know exactly what to expect from start to finish. I want the whole experience to feel clear, exciting, and stress-free from the very beginning, so you can feel confident knowing how everything works before we get started.
My Showit Website Design Process
Getting To Know Your Business
Before we jump into your website design, you’ll need to complete my questionnaire. It’s quite in-depth, but that’s because it helps me to really understand your business — your goals, your vision, and the kind of clients you want to attract. We’ll also take a look at your competitors to make sure your website stands out for all the right reasons. I’ll also ask you to share a few websites you love, so I can get a better feel for the styles you’re naturally drawn to and the overall vibe you’re going for.
If you’ve booked my complete brand and website design package, you’ll receive this at the same time as your brand design questionnaire. Both questionnaires need to be completed in prior to our agreed start date.
Once your branding is all wrapped up (so exciting!), we’ll move straight into designing your website, where your new brand identity will really start to come to life.
Homepage Design
I always start with your website’s homepage design — it’s really important that we get this feeling 100% right before moving on to any of the other pages. I don’t begin work on any interior pages until you’re happy with the homepage and it’s been signed off.
This is because there are some key elements that carry through your whole site, like your menu, header, and footer, so we want to make sure everything feels right from the start.
When I send your homepage over for review, you’ll really start to see your brand identity coming together — my clients get super excited when they see their homepage for the first time.
Interior Pages
Once your lovely new homepage has been approved, I’ll move on to designing the rest of your pages. The style and direction we’ve established on the homepage will naturally flow through the rest of the site, so everything feels consistent.
Each page is designed with a clear goal in mind, gently guiding your visitors towards taking action. When I send the interior pages over, you’ll be able to share feedback and we can tweak and refine things until everything feels just right.
Final Checks + Launch Prep
As a Showit Design Partner, all the websites I create are built with care and attention to detail. Before anything goes live, I go through your entire site and make sure everything is working exactly as it should — from contact forms and button links to any email marketing integrations.
I’ll also take care of your SEO setup, including things like image alt text, page titles, and meta descriptions. On top of that, I’ll set up the backend of your blog so your custom design integrates smoothly with WordPress.
I also like to go through and tidy everything behind the scenes — making sure elements are clearly labelled and organised so everything is easy to find if you ever need to make updates.
This part of the process is mostly me behind the scenes making sure everything is polished, organised, and ready for launch.
Launch
Arguably the most exciting part of my process. Your new website is ready to reveal to the world. I’ll connect your domain (no tech headaches for you), and set up a few handy SEO tools like Google Search Console and Analytics.
Training Video / Call
As part of my website design process, I include either a live training call or a recorded Loom video to show you how to update your site.
I always recommend the live call if you can, as it gives you the chance to ask questions as we go — and I can also record it so you can refer back to it later if needed.
We’ll go over the basics like updating text and images, and if there’s anything specific you’d like to learn, we can cover that too.
And of course, even after handover, I’m still here if you need support. If you ever want to add new pages or make bigger updates, you can always book in one of my Full-Focus Design Days. And if you ever have a quick question, I’m just an email away.
